We paddle the same water
you do.
There was never a proper tool for dragon boat teams. Both of us knew that for years, independently. DragonBoat Hub is what happened when we finally found each other.
Our goal
“We're not building a finished product. We're building a platform that grows with the community.”
The foundation is here: lineup planning, tracking, and event management. Where it goes next is up to you. Your feedback shapes every feature, every update, every decision.
Dragon boat runs on chaos. It shouldn't.
The napkin lineup
Scribbled on paper, photographed, sent to a group chat where it gets buried under 47 unrelated messages by Thursday.
Scattered tools
Roster in Google Sheets. Events in WhatsApp. Attendance in someone's head. Emergency contacts: who knows where those are.
The ghost RSVP
You text 22 people asking who's coming to practice. Twelve respond. Nine say maybe. You show up and wing it.
“I spent more time organizing practice than actually practicing.”
Every team manager, at some point
How it came together
The idea that wouldn't go away
Maxi has wanted to build this since he started coding. Christian had the same itch. Both paddlers, both frustrated by the same chaos every season: spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups, and guesswork. There was simply nothing good out there for dragon boat teams.
A connection through DragonTrim
Christian had already done pioneering work with DragonTrim: his physics-based balance algorithm was, at that point, already in use by teams around the world. Fate brought us together in the end. After a coaching session, Maxi pitched his vision for a modern management app to a DragonTrim user. The immediate reaction: "Hold on, I know someone who's also building a dragon boat app!" That was the starting gun for DragonBoat Hub.
Two halves, one product
Maxi brought the app, the backend, and the platform. Christian brought a battle-tested algorithm and deep race strategy knowledge. The moment we joined forces, DragonBoat Hub went from side project to real product.
Who we are

Maximilian Flechtner
App & Platform
Full-stack developer. Builds everything: the Flutter app, the Serverpod backend, the infrastructure. Has wanted to build a dragon boat app since he started programming. Now he finally is.
Has rewritten the lineup UI four times because "it didn't feel right to drag into."

Christian Lange
Algorithm & Strategy
The numbers guy. Christian built the balance algorithm behind DragonTrim, which was already in use by teams before DragonBoat Hub existed. He loves data, and that obsession is why the lineup math actually works.
It clicked the moment we first met: Maxi and I share the same goal. We knew immediately that by combining our skills we could create a solution that would meaningfully change dragon boat sport.
How we build
We paddle too
Every feature started as a real problem on a real dock. We don't guess what teams need, we live it.
The RSVP feature exists because Maxi texted 22 people before every Thursday practice.
Fast at the dock, not bloated
20 paddlers, 10 minutes. The app needs to work fast and stay out of your way. We cut anything that doesn't serve that moment.
Creating a lineup takes under 60 seconds.
Community-driven
This isn't our app, it's yours. The community decides what gets built next. We built the foundation, you shape the direction.
Feature requests go straight into the roadmap. No middlemen.
