Open it
- Phone: Profile → Video Analysis.
- Tablet and computer: the Video Analysis tab in the sidebar.
Everyone can use it, no special role needed. Tap New analysis (the +) and pick a video from your gallery or files.

Your analyses
Each video becomes an analysis with its own measurements. The list shows how many shapes it contains. The â‹® menu lets you Rename or Delete an analysis.
Analyses are stored on your device only. They aren't uploaded or synced, so they don't move to a new phone. In the browser the video itself isn't kept after you reload the page: the app asks you to pick the file again, and your measurements are still there.
Move through the video
- Previous frame / Next frame to step frame by frame, Play/Pause, and the scrub bar.
- The readout shows seconds and the frame number, handy for counting the frames between catch and exit.
- Playback speed: 0.25×, 0.5×, 1× or 2×.
- Zoom: pinch, or the zoom buttons. Fit shows the whole frame again.
- Playback settings: set the frame rate if a clip reports the wrong one (default 30).
Measuring tools
| Tool | Shortcut | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Select | V | Select and move shapes. |
| Distance | L | Draw a line and see its length. |
| Angle | A | Three points, shows the angle in degrees, for example the paddle angle at the catch. |
| Circle | C | Draw a circle, for example around the blade. |
| Calibrate | K | Mark a known length so distances are shown in metres instead of pixels. |
| Trajectory | T | Click points to draw a path, for example the blade tip through the stroke. |
Calibrate first if you want real lengths: draw along something you know, for example the width of the boat at the gunwales, and enter its real length (m, cm, mm, ft or in). Without calibration, distances are in pixels.
The keyboard shortcuts work on computers and tablets with a keyboard, plus: arrow keys to step a frame, space to play/pause, Delete to remove a shape, Ctrl/Cmd+Z to undo, + and − to zoom and 0 to reset.
Follow a moving point (tracking)
Shapes stay where you put them by default. To make a point follow a paddler or a blade, open Tracking, select the shape, go to another frame and drag its handle to the new position (Set key). Repeat on a few frames and the shape follows your key frames through the video.
Panels
- Measurements: all shapes with their values. Jump to frame takes you to where a shape was drawn.
- Shape properties: colour and line width.
- Undo and Clear all (can be undone once).
Share a frame
Export frame saves the current frame with all your drawings at full video resolution as an image and opens the share sheet — to send it to your crew, or post it to the Dragonboat Hub.
Ideas for your crew
- Catch angle: pause on the frame where the blade enters the water and measure the paddle angle with Angle.
- Reach: calibrate with the boat width, then measure how far forward each paddler reaches with Distance.
- Timing: step frame by frame and compare when each bench catches. One frame at 30 fps is 33 ms.
